Introduction

The new campaigns have similar cinematic introduction sequences of the same high standard as the original game. There is still a slight feeling of it being forced but besides this they are very well made. As these campaigns pick up after the original they are quick to get started and there is no need for more tutorials.

Getting Going

As this is an expansion you are already familiar with the game features and the new additions were easy to get to grips with. The new campaign goals were as well written and clear as the original so there was no conufsion over what had to be done.

Fun

The expansion improves on the original game in a lot of small ways; a few balance issues only improve the fun and all the new units add to the game rather than making it unbalanced. The new campaigns are as well made as the originals although they do suffer from a lack of sense of purpose, as you fight on all sides. The changes serve to make it more fun than the original.

Visuals

The visuals are the same as the original but some new map types give a bit of variety and the new units all look good.

Intelligence

The ability to set the level of the computer player outside of campaigns is a useful addition but otherwise the same.

Immersion

This is the same as the original, the new campaigns are of the same quality although you do feel less involved with the characters.

Cameras

Same as the original

Controls

Same as the original

Ideas

The expansion adds to a few of the original ideas, such as the bonus campaign which is more RPG like, but it is essentially the same.

Memory

You are left feeling that it is an improved version of the original with some exciting new additions to keep you playing for longer.

Comments

Manages to improve the original game without changing the gameplay or making it unbalanced. It is just as fun but with added depth.
